How it Works
The steps to get started:
Fill out the Request Session Form along with your availability.
Kathryn Jones will get back to you with times that are open and how to secure a time for the first meeting. You'll also be emailed action items to complete before the first meeting. Currently working with online sessions only via Telehealth.
Recommend Client to start before our meeting by getting Feeling Great by Dr. David Burns. For preparation, read Chapters 23 and 27.
TEAM CBT stands for Testing, Empathy, Agenda Setting and Methods. This is a Cognitive Behavioral approach that is evidence-based and can be very powerful for change.
The Testing portion is giving clients a powerful tool, called the Brief Mood Survey. Clients will fill this out before the session and after the session. A marvelous tool to measure progress, areas of concerns to highlight so we can maximize healing and learning.
The Empathy portion needs to be throughout the sessions. You need to feel understood and heard to build that trust. It's essential and after every session, I ask you, the client, how you feel about the interaction.
Agenda Setting is the client identifying the therapeutic goals. I have various tools for you, as the client, to uncover any process or outcome obstacles that may inhibit your goals. We go over that at your pace.
Methods allow us to take a look at those thoughts that are causing problems. Is there truth to those thoughts or do they have the 10 distortions we typically add? Are there self-defeating beliefs? I utilize tools that unlock any obstacles and eliminating the negative thoughts and beliefs. Every meeting will include the Brief Mood Survey before and after the session. We'll also review the progress and homework. The more engaged with homework and sessions, the faster the relief.
When healing or relief is achieved, there is a session with training on self-administered tools that empower you as the client to avoid sliding backwards or revert back to negative thoughts.
